We would like to introduce ourselves. We are Tracey and Michael Drake. We are both born and bred Aucklanders who moved to Kerikeri in late December. We met 8 years ago while working at The NZ Cat Foundation in Auckland. We got married in October 2025, and have 5 adult children who have all flown the nest. We have six cats of our own, Wentworth, Maisy, Lexie, Lennon, Louie and Lottie.
At the NZ Cat Foundation, Michael was the manager at the Huapai cat sanctuary, and I was a volunteer working 15 hours per week. We looked after hundreds of cats who live at the sanctuary, many old and vulnerable, and many with multiple health issues. We are used to administering all medication, including insulin injections for diabetics. With my nursing training background, I understand the health issues of cats who are diabetics, and have kidney or dental problems, and need special diets and medication.
We are very much looking forward to this next chapter of our lives. Owning, and managing a cattery is our dream job, and we are so excited to look after your precious fur babies.
We have rebranded the cattery to be Whiskers and Paws Pussycat Retreat. We now have social media sites (Facebook and Instagram) where you can see photos of your pussies while you are away.
